About Us
What does the EAL Team do?
Work with bilingual pupils in class and support them in learning English and understanding the curriculum.
Train Nursery, Primary, and Secondary Teachers, PSA's, and school staff on how to support bilingual pupils in their class.
Provide information and support for bilingual families.
As a team we also work with staff in schools to make sure:
Diversity is valued
Home language is maintained
Inclusion and equality of access to the curriculum
Identification and assessment of need
Appropriate level of support
Effective teaching strategies and resources
Teaching support to individual or small groups of pupils
Holistic approach to assessment
Awareness of linguistic, religious and cultural matters
Effective home and school liaison
Where are we located?
We cover the whole of the Highland Area shown in blue, using Highland Council HQ in Inverness as a central point.
